I decided to shake things up this week and not do an app. Small Empires is a web series that gives an inside look into startup companies. Rarely does anything capture my attention so intently. It’s hosted by Alexis Ohanian, the founder of Reddit and member of Y Combinator. He has an honest, no bullshit demeanor and really shows he understands what these companies are going through. The first episode I watched was about Paper by 53. I watched it on a lark because I liked the Paper app and wanted to see what it was like working there. It was so good I immediately looked for other episodes. I was a little disappointed because there was only one other company that I knew, Squarespace. My site is a Squarespace site and it was once again an amazing view into the company. I almost made a huge mistake of not watching the other episodes. Watch them all, even the ones about companies you will never use are intensely interesting. Season 2 just started and I can’t wait to watch them. I tweeted at Alexis that it was the best thing on the internet and I stand by that statement.
